Gate Applications
Pre-venTronics installs gate systems for a wide range of applications from
residential to industrial. Gate systems can be barrier arm, swing gate, or
slide gate. Custom configurations are available, such as vertical lift units
and low clearance barrier arms. Gate systems are used for controlling traffic
entry and exit. In addition to controlling unwanted traffic, gate systems are
a deterrent to acts of vandalism, theft, etc. Common uses are for residential
communities, industrial, airports, parking garages, and governmental. Gate
styles vary with application. Operators are available to accommodate most any
new or existing style of gate. Intercom systems are often used for
communication between remote gate locations and security or receptionist. CCTV cameras may be used to provide positive visual
identification of vehicles and/or drivers.
How does it work?
Pre-venTronics' gate systems may be controlled by wireless transmitters,
stand alone keypad/card processors, or more sophisticated access control systems. Access control systems may
utilize readers that can read cards at rates as high as 30 mph. Gate systems
normally require one or more magnetic detection loops or beams to detect the
presence of vehicles. Depending on the application, the loops may act as
vehicle safety detection, or open the gate for free exit. The magnetic
detection loop is a coil of wire buried just below the surface which looks
for metal objects above it. Modern gate operators are processor controlled
and incorporate many safety features such as quick rebound if struck by a
vehicle.
